Dr. Stuart Fickler, OB"M has been Scientist-in-Residence at Chabad of Greater Dayton where he led a seminar entitled “Scientists in Search of HaShem,” and has submitted articles relating to his spiritual quest. He also taught a course entitled “A Scientist in Search of G‑d: From Einstein to Maimonides” at the University of Dayton. Holding a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, he has directed an internationally recognized research group, and has published on elementary particle theory and on the theory of relativity. He has taught at Syracuse University and the University of Cincinnati, and has served on the Chancellor's Subcommittee on Instructional Development of the Ohio Board of Regents.
During Dr. Fickler's career as a scientist, he has been a dedicated student of the world's religions, with particular emphasis on the historical and theological roots of Judaism. Dr. Fickler has developed and taught adult education programs, such as "Adventures in Prayer," at Temple Beth Or in Dayton, Ohio. He has been a consultant to the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and to the Center for Judaic-Christian Studies. He has lectured and provided workshops to many churches and synagogues. Also, Dr. Fickler is the founder and leader of a chavurat tefilah, which explores healing prayer as a vehicle for developing one's relationship with Hashem and Hashem's creation.
